‘Palestinians’ warn US over Jerusalem bill:
JERUSALEM – The “Palestinian” terrorist organization Hamas has threatened to ramp up violence against Israelis if the US Congress dares to ratify a bill calling for global recognition of Jerusalem as the Jewish capital.
The proposed legislation was submitted by Senator Sam Brownback (Rep.-Kansas).
...Hamas responded Monday by threatening to end the temporary pause in its campaign to mass murder Israel’s Jews should Congress pass the bill.
When Hamas commits murder in Israel, Americans as well as Israelis often die. It’s just a short hop from this to Hamas threatening to blow up Americans on our soil. Let’s just bomb Hamas and have done with it. They can’t stand up to us. Why should we tolerate this belligerence?
A new site launched today in support of Arnold for President.
So far I like Arnold a lot, but I oppose amending our Constitution so as to permit people not born in this country to run for President.
Last December, a 3-day Islamist conference took place in Canada, called “Reviving the Islamic Spirit”. Speakers at the conference included Islamic extremists. Our government observed that this was likely to be, in whole or in part, a gathering of Islamofascists.
America has a new border agency, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), to address these concerns. Per Daniel Pipes:
...in late December 2004, after a three-day Islamist conference, “Reviving the Islamic Spirit,” took place in Toronto. The event, boasting a host of high-profile Islamist speakers such as Bilal Philips, Zaid Shakir, Siraj Wahhaj, and Hamza Yusuf, alarmed the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), America’s new border agency.
Spokeswoman Kristie Clemens explained that her agency had information on how events such as the one in Toronto “may be used by terrorist organizations to promote terrorist activities, which includes traveling and fund raising.” Ms. Clemens later added that the CBP has “credible, ongoing information that these types of conferences have been used and are being used by terrorist organizations to not only transport fraudulent documents but to mask travel by terrorists.” Terrorists imagine, she pointed out, that if they travel in a large group, “we’re going to be less restrictive and try to expedite the processing.”
In defense of national security, the CBP detained a number of the conference attendees as they returned to the U.S.
Her explanation hints at why the CBP decided to detain nearly 40 Muslims, many of them American citizens, as they returned to the U.S. by car from the Toronto conference. The travelers report they spent long hours at the border near Buffalo, N.Y., and none too pleasantly.
For the safety of this country, we have to keep an eye on people attending these events. It’d be easier in the short term not to; but in the long term, it’s better to do this than to deal after-the-fact with another 9-11:
America finds itself at war with radical Islam not just in Afghanistan but in Buffalo, Boston, Boca Raton, and Baltimore. Controlling the border flow, therefore, has paramount importance. As a law enforcement agency, the CBP in this and other cases (notably that of Tariq Ramadan) should not divulge its exact reasons for excluding foreigners or detaining citizens. To do otherwise would compromise national security.
So naturally CAIR and the ACLU, which seem determined to attack all efforts on the part of America to prevent another 9-11, have arranged a lawsuit:
...the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the American Civil Liberties Union – two organizations consistently hostile to American self-protection – goaded five of the detained travelers to sue the federal government on the grounds that they “were unlawfully detained, interrogated, fingerprinted, and photographed.”
CAIR and the ACLU: Working Harder to Get Us Nuked—that would be another possible slogan for them.
Two of the plaintiffs’ demands have lasting implications: that the court declare the CBP had violated the travelers’ rights and that it enjoin the CBP from “detaining, interrogating, fingerprinting, and photographing United States citizens who are Muslim because they are returning to the country after having attended religious conferences.”
Personal liberties of terrorists should trump the need of the rest of us to not get nuked—that’s the point of view CAIR and the ACLU would like to impose.
Were the plaintiffs to prevail in this case, attending religious conferences would instantly become the favored method for terrorists and other Islamists to cross the American border without hindrance. Such a malign implication means this lawsuit needs to be tossed out by the courts.
Zarqawi’s Computer Discovered:
What the task force did find in the vehicle confirmed suspicions that Zarqawi had just escaped. The official said Zarqawi’s computer and 80,000 euros (about $104,000 U.S.) were discovered in the truck.
Finding the computer, said the official, “was a seminal event.” It had “a very big hard drive,” the official said, and recent pictures of Zarqawi. The official said Zarqawi’s driver and a bodyguard were taken into custody.
We’re going to get a ton of good data off that drive. Given that they’ve already recovered photos off of it, it appears the drive may not have been encrypted.
Perhaps Zarqawi watches 24. He escaped much like the bad guy on that TV series did a few weeks ago:
The senior military official said that they have since learned Zarqawi jumped out of the vehicle when it passed beneath an overpass, presumably to avoid detection from the air, and hid there before running to a safe house in Ramadi.
