Oddly, the Liberals never say boo about things like this:
Pervez Musharraf is facing one of his worst public relations disasters after his government tried to stop a gutsy rape victim from travelling to the US on the grounds that she would tarnish Pakistan`s image. Mukhtaran Mai (in picture) was gang-raped in 2002 on the orders of a village council after her brother—who was 12 at the time—was judged to have offended the honor of a powerful clan by befriending a woman from their tribe. Six men were originally convicted of the crime and sentenced to death, but five were acquitted after appealing to a regional Punjab court.
The Liberals who oppose American efforts to bring democracy to nations such as these, would like to keep this sort of thing from public scrutiny.
‘KNOCK IT OFF,’ RICE TELLS SYRIA ON MEDDLING:
“There is a context and an atmosphere of instability” in Lebanon, she told reporters on her plane as she wrapped up a four-day trip in the Middle East. “Syria’s activities are part of that context and a part of that atmosphere, and they need to knock it off.”
Condi for President! That’s the kind of straight talk that has served many Presidents well in their election campaigns.
DEMS NO LONGER THE PARTY OF THE MIDDLE CLASS:
A centrist group of Democrats called Third Way recently issued a report explaining the Democrats’ 2004 election debacle. It concluded that voters with incomes between $30,000 and $75,000 a year, or almost half the electorate, delivered “healthy victories” for President Bush and Republicans in Congress. The report concludes: “Rather than being the party of the middle class, Democrats face a huge crisis with middle-income voters.”
Why is that? One reason is that the party of FDR and JFK no longer seems to have a moderate wing; they have become doughnut Democrats with no middle. This point is best exemplified by the utter collapse of Democrats in the South.

I got a phone call the other day trying to sell me something. I almost never buy anything pitched to me over the phone, but this time I did. It was one of my credit card companies, selling a new service, in which they keep an eye on my credit reports every day, and if something happens, like somebody buys a house, or opens a new bank account—or does any of the things that are usually done with stolen credit info by identity thieves—they will notify me immediately.
This sounds like a really good approach. This could keep damage from identity theft to a minimum, and in many cases might permit you to alert the people involved soon enough to prevent damage to your credit.
They also estimate the cost of being Batman.
