Significant MSM stories and editorials breaking today:
And on a lighter note:
Commenter Tsar Lazar posts:
There are two great examples of the difference between reporting and providing free propaganda currently online from the BBC, an entity which is taking heat from its viewers for doing exactly what ABC has been justly kicked out of Russia for doing.
On its Newswatch website for Aug. 3, there is an attempt to defend the BBC’s policy of granting airtime to extremists. Basically, the essence of their self-defense seems to be, “We think they should be heard, and that’s that.” Although they claim that through their interviews they are “challenging” the extremist views, a viewing of such segments usually shows that the challenges are about as strong as those that challenge Jessica Simpson about whether or no she should get her hair cut. Needless to say, the average British subject is not fooled by such obfuscations, and are increasingly vocal about what they rightly see as a liberal MSM attempt to undermine the war on terror and to soften Western perceptions of Islam and jihad.
The second article shows that the British media are learning all too well from the MSM in the United States. It reports on angry reactions from the British public to a BBC “Special Report” on terrorism in which a studio audience served as a “town hall” from which reactions and concerns were elicited. Unfortunately, the BBC chose to stack the audience with an unrepresentative amount of Muslims---3 to 4 times the percentage of Muslims in the British population. This, of course, served to skew the reactions in a predictable fashion, underlining again the MSM’s dedication to softening/obscuring the perception of Islam and its intrinsically harsh elements. Again, however, “John Bull” is too wise to fall for this, and the BBC is facing criticism. All of this makes me wonder whether Dan Rather has moved to the U.K. to continue his career…
JOBS GROWTH UNEXPECTEDLY STRONG IN JULY:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. job growth picked up last month as employers added 207,000 workers to their payrolls, a healthy gain that led Wall Street to increase bets on rate hikes from the Federal Reserve.
The unemployment rate held steady at the 5 percent reached in June, the lowest level since September 2001, the Labor Department said on Friday.
"This is a crystal clear indication that the labor markets are very healthy and it reinforces the notion that the economy is growing in a healthy, sustainable way," said Dana Johnson, chief economist at Comerica in Detroit.
The GWB tax cuts worked.
When this site started recommending deportation for Muslims in England who support terrorism, it was considered to be a novel suggestion. It now turns out this site was ahead of the curve.
Blair Announces New Measures Against Terrorism
LONDON — Foreigners who preach hatred, sponsor violence or belong to extremist groups could be deported from Britain under strict new measures that Prime Minister Tony Blair announced Friday, nearly a month after homicide bombers killed 52 people on London's transit system.
Membership in extremist Islamic groups such as Hizb-ut-Tahrir would become a crime under the new measures. The group, which advocates the creation of an Islamic state in Central Asia, already is outlawed in several countries.
Blair said the government also would compile a list of Web sites, bookshops and centers that incite hatred and violence. British nationals involved with such organizations could face strict penalties. Foreign nationals could be deported, he said.
"They come here and they play by our rules and our way of life," Blair said at his monthly news conference. "If they don't, they are going to have to go."
This will have good effects in Britain. It will remove dangerous persons from the community. It will also show those who support terror, but who are not arrested or deported, that supporting terror is now associated with grave costs to themselves. This will reduce support for terrorism within those communities and in that way reduce the number of new terrorists they produce.
Has British MP Gerald Howarth been reading my site?
Tory urges 'treacherous' Muslims to leave Britain
Muslims opposed to the British way of life should leave the country, even if they are UK citizens, a senior Conservative said today.
Shadow defence minister Gerald Howarth said that extremists who saw the Iraq war as a conflict against Islam should be considered as treacherous as Soviet sympathisers during the Cold War.
...Mr Howarth said the majority of Muslims adhered to British values and he described how the Union Flag had been flown at a meeting he had with Muslims over the weekend.
But the Aldershot MP compared those who despised the British way of life with the traitors who spied for the USSR.
"If they don't like our way of life, there is a simple remedy - go to another country, get out," Mr Howarth told The Scotsman newspaper.
Asked what if those people were born in Britain, Mr Howarth replied: "Tough. If you don't give allegiance to this country, then leave."
He added: "There are plenty of other countries whose way of life would appear to be more conducive to what they aspire to.
"They would be happy and we would be happy."
Muslims in England who support terrorists should be deported and/or expelled.
