This great comment was posted here by Heather:
I do have family in Iraq and I support our country. My fiance’ has also enlisted and I am proud to have him fight for our freedom and security. Of course I hope he is safe but he is volunteering, as has every other serviceman or woman. I’m sure Mr.Sheehan was aware of the risks and that’s what makes him a hero because he chose to join up and fight anyway. I’m tired of the argument “would you send your loved ones to die?” Well I can’t make any adult do anything, but I do support my loved ones choices and if they do die I will honor their memory not use it as a political platform.
This is flat-out heroism, on the part of Heather and her fiance', and this nation owes them its gratitude.
SUNNIS COMPLAIN OF BEING CUT OUT OF TALKS:
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Sunni Arabs complained Saturday they were being sidelined in talks on the new constitution only two days before the deadline and warned that their community will reject the document if it is submitted to parliament without Sunni consent.
That's what happens when your main contribution to the talks is to a) support people who are killing the other participants and b) try to impose religious rule on everybody else.
ANOTHER PRO-GWB DEMONSTRATION HAS SPRUNG UP IN CRAWFORD, TEXAS, in advance of the caravan that is set to leave Monday from San Francisco.
Isn't it nice the way the AP headline describes those who want to protect America from another 9-11, or worse? According to the headline, such individuals are "war backers." The AP opposes efforts to prevent America from getting nuked; perhaps the AP can be considered "surrender monkeys." By the way, has the following been widely reported by MSM?War Backers Set Up Camp Near Bush Ranch
By ANGELA K. BROWN, Associated Press Writer
CRAWFORD, Texas - A patriotic camp with a "God Bless Our President!" banner sprung up downtown Saturday, countering the anti-war demonstration started by a fallen soldier's mother two weeks ago near President Bush's ranch.
Large counter-protests were held in a ditch near Sheehan's site a week after she arrived...
Somehow I question that "ditch." I wonder if it was really a ditch, or if that's just AP trying to make the GWB-supporters look bad. Really, do you think the participants of a "large counter-protest" really found a ditch and stood in it?
I doubt the Sheehan supporters will accept this invitation to a debate:
Bill Johnson, a local gift shop owner who created "Fort Qualls," said he wanted to offer a larger, more convenient place for Bush supporters to gather.
He and others at "Fort Qualls" have asked for a debate with those at the Crawford Peace House, which is helping Sheehan.
Surely they are aware that if they accept it, they are liable to lose the debate ignomiously on the facts, or attempt the favored Dem tactic of trying to shout down the opposition so as to prevent them from speaking -- which doesn't play well outside of staunch anti-GWB enclaves. Therefore, they are likely to duck the debate.
