Last night I stopped by the California Republican Party Convention at the Marriott hotel in Anaheim. In various rooms on the ground floor various local candidates were giving speeches, and there was a party with an excellent band in one of the ballrooms, given by the California Women's Leadership Association. On upper floors, where the candidates had their suites, gatherings and smaller parties were going on.
In his suite, I saw my friend Dr. Phil Kurzner, who's running for Insurance Commissioner of Caiifornia. I met Phil over a year ago, in February of 2004, and contributed to his campaign at that time. He's a very accomplished surgeon, and is devoted to reducing government regulation, saving jobs, and restoring the state's financial health.
