"We're really blessed in this country to have the Judeo-Christian tradition of wanting to love each other and help each other have better lives and to enjoy life and be good to each other. As opposed to the tradition of some Islamofascist localities where they do the reverse - sending their own children off to be blown up."

Absence of Communication with the Public Cost the GOP in This Election

Going through the blogosphere this morning, there's great analysis as to why the GOP lost in yesterday's elections. Some of the key points, with examples of those who discussed them:

I'll add another item to this list, which I haven't seen discussed much yet elsewhere: the absence of communication with the voters. Democrat leaders like Pelosi, Dean, Kennedy, Gore, the Clintons, etc., appeared almost daily in high-visibility mainstream media, hammering on the GOP with serious criticisms. But the GOP leadership was almost invisible. They did not hammer back, and they did not shout good news about the GOP from the rooftops.

The GOP had a good story to tell:

The top GOP leaders should have been in the media every day, pounding home this message, and hammering on the Democrats the way the Democrats were hammering on them. When the GOP abandoned the public debate to the degree that it did - leaving it, to such an extent, up to Conservative bloggers and pundits to carry the GOP message to the public - it made yesterday's election results almost inevitable.

    I'm angry!

I was commiserating that I had not received one piece of mail or any phone calls from the Republicans in my area (and I live across the Potomac from Washington, DC) but I was burraged with all sorts of literature and calls from the local Democrats!

I saw Democrats in the streets, outside malls and metro stations canvassing and 'witnessing' but hardly any Republicans!

The Democrats have advertising, marketing, and the media pretty well figured out; they were on the offensive spreading 'The Big Lie', while the Republicans were trying to play 'catch-up'.

The Republicans took a defeatist, defensive stance, so they were defeated. The Democrats made a unified, concerted, and aggressive effort once they surmised there was a chink in the armor and they won.

And may I now say something very provocative? Secretary Rumsfeld should have resigned as soon as he realized he was adversely affecting the nation, the President, the party, and most importantly, the good work being done in Afghanistan and Iraq. While it's good to be loyal to a friend, there are larger issues. The administration and noble aims of this nation need to be protected.

Fire the jerks who run the media etc. for the Republican party. Get a new crew in!

And get involved! Let's make G O P mean, Get Out and Push! (and Publicize, and Promote, and Proselytize!)

2008 is right around the corner!

you forgot the most important 2 things: spending like crazy(and i mean not on the war on terror) and corruption. if GOP doesn't recognize that this is a warning and shapes up for 2008, we will have a Dem. president with a Dem. congress, and we will start using comrade instead of sir.
