CLINTON'S DISASTER RESPONSE TOOK LONGER THAN BUSH'S:
Critics say President Bush's personal response to the Hurricane Katrina disaster was too little, too late - with an Air Force One flyover the day after New Orleans' levees broke and a trip to Baton Rouge two days later.
President Clinton, on other the other hand, got glowing reviews for responding to his administration's biggest disaster, the Oklahoma City bombing - even though he took a day longer to arrive on the scene than Bush did last week.
Tom, the President was in New Orleans on Friday, 4 days after the hurricane. Sky News is inaccuarate and misleading with their reporting. This weak's visit was the first opportunity that Bush had to visit central New Orleans, where the water has receded. Due to the flood waters and its uncertainty and security and health risks, he was unable to tour that part of the hit region before now. It's been dangerous for professionals to get in there, but I guess you would have been OK with the President risking his life to satisfy the left.

Actually, I'd prefer that he stay away from the area entirely and send qualified professionals to lead the recovery effort.
It was the NewsMax article which claimed that the president's arrival is defined by when he arrives on the scene. Even by that standard, the most generous interpretation has Bush taking four days, not three.
Wow, this is pathetic even by NewsMax's sorry standards.
It begins with the straw man that the president's response to a disaster is defined by when he personally arrives on the scene.
It then presents a timeline which begins the day after the hurricane hit. This is based on the premise that the New Orleans levees didn't break until Tuesday, when in fact the first levee broke Monday morning.
The timeline then ends with Bush's arrival "on the scene" in Baton Rouge. Sorry, NewsMax, but Baton Rouge and New Orleans are entirely different scenes. Bush's actual first visit to New Orleans was yesterday, a full 14 days after the hurricane hit.
