France violence waning under state of emergency: authorities --
PARIS (AFP) - Attacks by rioters in France dropped sharply for the first time in nearly two weeks of rampages as a state of emergency took effect, raising hopes that the worst unrest the country has seen since May 1968 might be receding.
So now we watch the aftermath for evidence that the rioters want the jobs the media claimed the riots were all about -- or whether the rioters want no jobs, but rather, to extend the control of Islam, and reduce the influence of the French government, in the areas in which they live.
