Eason Jordan Resigns: Is This The Death of the Phony Meme?

Wow. Advantage blogosphere. Eason Jordan resigns:

CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan quit Friday amid a furor over remarks he made in Switzerland last month about journalists killed by the U.S. military in Iraq. Jordan said he was quitting to avoid CNN being “unfairly tarnished” by the controversy.

During a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum last month, Jordan said he believed that several journalists who were killed by coalition forces in Iraq had been targeted.

It was only bloggers that busted Eason Jordan on his outrageous and unfounded comments, slamming the U.S. at an international forum. Mainstream Media stayed out of it until just the last few days.

I’ll make two observations:

• We’ve reached the point where the blogosphere can raise a story to national attention, without the help of MSM.
• This may be the end of the false statement which, via endless repetition, becomes accepted by the public. Here was Jordan apparently saying that the coalition forces in Iraq hard purposely shot at and killed journalists. This is just the kind of thing the Left used to pick up and repeat endlessly until it was accepted as fact by a large part of the public. The days of the big phony meme may be over.
