Last night at a private residence in Malibu, California, Pierre-Richard Prosper, candidate for Attorney General of California, spoke a large group of invited guests. Prosper started out as Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles, during which time he was worked in the Hardcore Gang Division dealing with gang-related murders. From there he moved on to Assistant United States Attorney for the Central District of California in Los Angeles, where he investigated international drug cartels. In the late 90's he was a war crimes prosecutor for the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, and successfully conducted the first case of genocide under the 1948 Genocide Convention. Following this he was appointed by GWB to be the U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues.
Last night Prosper said that too many people who have been Attorney General of California "have wanted to have the job rather than to do the job." He said he wanted to achieve improvements in border security and gang problems in Los Angeles. He seems like a great guy, and his speech was very impressive.
