I don't know that you can blame it on McCain. The Republicans have benefitted for 8 year from the Democrats bringing forth total idiots as candidates. Kerry and Gore has NO charisma. I mean, Gore had less charisma that Bush I.

2000 should have been Gore's year, but he and the Democrats blew it. Why we came up with W, I have never been able to understand.

The problem here was that we all thought being president was about experience and record, but this election was all about the Cult of Personality. In those terms, Sarah Palin was the rock star, not McCain and she was in the passenger seat.

I think that many people, myself included really wanted to see Palin debate Obama.

The Republican media people were mean-spirited elitists with their ads. Instead of attacking all the way, they should have been uplifting McCain.

The Republicans should have run on a platform of REFORM to counter CHANGE.  Things were better under Reagan and Clinton and it should have been pointed out that the system can work, if we get back to basics and punish those who created this mess.  Personal accountability and community empowerment should also have be stressed.

There could have been a good visual showing a cast iron frying pan with the issues sizzling and then being dumped into the fire with the tagline: Change is not always good.

McCain should have visited poor areas and had some real sit down face-to-face meetings with everyday people.

He should have had 'fireside chats' describing the problems and assuring Americans that we will overcome this downturn. A firside chat talking about what he has found on the campaign trail (not just obsessing over Joe the plumber) would have been interesting.  A blog covering this should have been created and advertised.

A commercial with photos and clips of all of McCain's visits to Iraq and Afghanistan should have been shown with the explanation that he has been consistently involved with both wars and interacted with our troops.  Then it should have been pointed out that Obama visited Iraq only when his campaign told him to.

There should have been another commercial stressing his experience with McCain meeting world leaders on fact-finding trips.  

Character should have been an issue and having friends talk about him vis a vis being a prisoner of war would show his constitution and focus. 

A commercial concerning normalization of relations with Vietnam should have

been shown showing his sense of forgiveness, compassion, and practical leadership. This should have been doubled with our involvement in Iraq and that he despises war and wants people to live peacefully.

A commercial with McCain wearing jeans and workshirt in a field beside a cow with him proudly stating: OK, I'm over seventy and some think that I should be put out to pasture...but people my age are still robust and have years of experience and wisdom to draw from.  So let's get in gear  (as he gets up on a tractor) and start planting for tomorrow!

Talking about national emergencies and how he hopes to reform FEMA and get communities involved in Civil Defense-type programs.

And then there were no commercial with Palin speaking.

Ron Paul gained so much support from such a wide spectrum because he talked about real Right Wing change.

McCain was uninspiring. I love Palin for being against federal funding but we need to go further if we are going to inspire the mainstream.

Yes, we need to punish the wrong doers, take back the $90 million from Frank Raines and put him in jail.  We need put Barney Franks in jail for what the military calls "Deraliction of Duty," ditto for Ms California Freeloading, Maxine Waters,... and all the other Democrats (that's right, Democrats) who caused this Subprime mess and perhaps destroyed the world economy.  Not to say some Republicans aren't corrupt lobbyists and need to be jailed as well.  But you would have really had your head in the sand to not know who panders to minorities, telling them what victims they are and vote for us and you will get handouts and quotas, and boy did they.  Let's see, 93% of blacks voted for Obama in Virginia, 92% in NC.  Don't think so? Jefferson said "The informed citizen is the cornerstone of Democracy."  And indeed he is.  After you have accepted or rejected the BIG LIE detailed above, let's examine whether or not there was just one big lie.  Just how "informed" are we, in the spirit of Jefferson.  Or have we become such a shallow people that we are fed lies and just are too d*** stupid and lazy to find the truth ourselves and be smart enough to understand when we are being manipulated by corrupt politicians who lie for your vote.  Perhaps you heard President Elect Obama describe his concept in the"war against terror"  (a misnomer, as it is actually the War Against Evil, as perpetrated by fanatical Islamics and has been since the seventh century).  It went "We prosecuted those terrorists who bombed the World Trade Center in 1993 and locked them up, and that is the right way to do this."  And we nod our heads and grunt pleasantly and run out and vote for that too, as it just makes us feel so enlightened and politically correct and holders of the high moral ground.  Such an enlightened and informed citizenry, one that would make Jefferson grin like a donkey chewing briars.  But I am sad to inform you that you are misinformed, it is yet another BIG LIE.  Don't think so, well you can look it up.  Go read "Willful Blindness, Memoir of the Jihad," by Andrew McCarthy, lead prosecuter of the Blind Shiek and the other terrorists who did that, and a former member of Clinton's Democratic administration.  You will be very sad and should be very angry, when you find that this was in fact a Triumph of Evil by demonic liars who played fools of our lawyers and FBI hancuffed by our legal system, the stupid legal stuff that lawyers create for the benefit of their self enrichment nevermind the deck is loaded by this in favor of the OJ Simpsons and other guilty ones who beat the system.  But Barack and the other Democrats DO NOT UNDERSTAND that this is demonic evil, and not some petty theives, bankrobbers, or even murderers like OJ.  Giving bearded evil buzzards the same rights as any American Citizen.  And then either laugh or throw up as you read about how the Clinton administration vigorously fought against even prosecuting the Blind Shiek, because, now get this, "It would make unrest in the Islamic world to prosecute him, as he is considered to be an Imam."  And do you recognize that this is the same rubbish given to Clinton by his stupid whiney advisors, like Sandy Burger, as to why they should not take out bin Ladin when he was to meet with some other shiek.  Oh, you do realize that Berger stold official documents, and do you not wonder what he was trying to hide?  And consider that hopefully not but it is likely that some of these same stupid whiney girlie guys will  also advise Barack.  So you like being lied to and manipulated by people who think they are smarter than you?  Well there is no excuse for it, in this day with google and books filled with librarys.  So go read the book, and if you think it is biased get other ones, and google.  Just laziness and stupidity, and we think we are so informed.  Ignorance may be bliss  but stupidity can kill.

Ok, well, maybe those are the only two lies, maybe there is no real pattern here.  So let's try something different.  How about 9/11, and the war on evil?  Did you hear all the gnashing and wailing and hand wringing of "why do they hate us, WHAT DID WE DO?"  "It was the Crusades, they are still mad about the Crusades, and it is all our fault.  And they are upset about the "Palistinean Problem,"  Just give them back their land and we can all live in peace.  Us being in Iraq creates more terrorists, we stop doing that and there will be no more terrorists.  Give them back their land and let them alone and it will be ok, it is our fault."  Now, is it not obvious that is the concept of the American Mainstream, and that the average man in the street thinks the Crusades was our fault and that this is the root cause?  Well I am very sad to inform you that the Islamics have been conquering and beheading and murdering MILLIONS of UNBELIEVERS since Muhammod in the seventh century, people whose only choice was to convert or die, or live in repression as dhimmis.  And you may think that MILLIONS is a gross exaggeration.  Well YOU CAN LOOK IT UP, so do so, do not take my word for it, that is not Jefferson told you to do.  (There is "The Sword of the Prophet," by Serge Trifkovic, "Islam Unveiled," by Robert Spencer, and  numerous others. Of course Islamics will tell you they are all lies.) Unfortunately there are well over a million just in the twentieth century.  And if you think the Nazi holocaust did not involve Islam, you would be wrong.  Go read about the Islamic SS division provided by Gran Mufti Hussayni of Palestine, that era's most influential Islamic.  And as recently as 1914, Istanbul was 50% Christian, and it is now 99% Islamic.  Why?  Did you know that 1.1 estimated Armenians who had lived as dhimmies were massacred in the early 1900s, all in the name of Allah, culminating in the slaughter of over 200,000 Christians in Smyrna in 1922, ending Christianity in Asia Minor?  Now consider who you voted for.  And how pious and informed and self righteous you were as you did so, making Jefferson ever so proud.  And go read about how the Crusades began simply in response to 400 years of Islamic agression that captured Jersusalam first in 614, and "by the Sword" occupied vast lands that had historically belonged to Christians and christian - like people.  And read about how today's Jordan comprised about 78% of what were Palistinean territories and that the Jews COULD NOT SETTLE OR OWN PROPERTY THERE.  So another lie, is there a pattern here?  Just how informed are you??  And how could this be as we are approaching 2009, and are supposedly so advanced?

Consider that the DVD  "Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West," was sent to homes recently bundled with your newspaper.  Why was this, when all you had to do was watch the CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, ABC.... or for Christsake, PBS for the truely enlightened?? Surely they would show it for you??? I regret to inform you that that would be wrong, as they were concerned that someone might be offended, in the spirit of Political Correctudinality.  You do understand that America's 900 pound gorilla is the "Offended Person," who we all hold in adoration and worship.  And you do know what a 900 pound can do?? ANYTHING HE WANTS TO.  Pray for Fayetteville NC, as an elementary school teacher said something political (which was a misstep), but this regrettable mistake has precipated an immense epidemic of Acute Sudden Onslaught Offended Person Syndrome (ASOOPS), putting many in comas and creating a dire request for blood donors.) So you may or may not conclude that any time you spend watching the CBS Evening News, PBS, or any of the others you are wasting your time and electricity, as you will only hear political correct feel good drivel that has been well-scrubbed to ensure that anything that could possibly offend anyone will not be shown. My belief is that MeCain was never intended to win, but the global leadership had to put up someone, so it would look like a real election.  Obama was annointed from the beginning, as was George W. Bush, and as trumpeted by the media.  Both of them were greenhorns re national and international politics, but both were given globalist old hands and heads, Cheney and Biden, to train them and keep them outof trouble til they learned the ropes.  We are presently giving and promising money to every large corp that is even looking  a little pale--to force us into some form of bankruptcy so we can be shoe-horned into the globalist financial order (controlled by the "central banks") and ultimately the globalist "new world order".  We will be controlled by U.N. treaty law and our national sovereignty will be completely gone.

McCain was not the right guy for the Republicans, Newt Gingrich was the best and brightest, but chose not to run.  The main problem America faces is a dumbded-down electorate, and as you said, a wildly-liberal media.  The media manipulated an indolent, uninformed American public with adoration and biased support of Obama.  No hard questions, we are just now finding out what he is and what his agenda is, and it is "Economic Justice."  See this interview from 2001 at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iivL4c_3pck

Academia is hugely liberal, and this has spilled over into the mainstream media.  The art of Investigative Journalism is all but dead there, it is only Fox News and talk radio that does their job.  At CBS, NBC, CNN, ... all you get is cheerleading for Obama and the liberal agenda, and no real analysis at all.  A public that through its education by the public school system has been indoctrinated with feel - good liberalism their entire lives, and so cannot study anything that may be controversial or offend anyone.  For example, look at the timeline leading up to the Crusades elsewhere on this site.  Is that even mentioned in a history course, K-12 OR college?  Is there any discussion of Islam at all?

And then think of softball questions posed to Obama like "What was your most charming moment of your first 100 days as President?"  Wow.  So the American People who aren't well-informed to start with and are very shallow in their general knowledge, is love-bombed by an adoring media for Obama, and so they decide that they did not like Bush and Obama seemed hip, and that was basically all they needed to know.  They knew not of Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Franklin Raines, Bill Clinton, Barney Franks, Gregory Meeks, Chris Dodd, Jimmy Carter and the CRA (Community Re-Investment Act), Bill Clinton who jumped in and made it worse, and now Obama and ACORN, essentially the Democrat Party forcing banks to make loans to people who could not pay so they would vote for them. They destroyed the world's economy with liberal pandering economics, and they blame Bush for it for the benefit of clueless Liberal voters.  Obama is a triumph of Style over Substance, spewing lofty rhetoric and airy platitudes.

Just like "The Rising Tide lifts all boats equally," it also sinks all boats equally.  Listen to the Obama inteview above very carefully, and then look at Social Medicine. What he is doing is letting the Doers pay for the health care of the Non-Doers, AND the Illegal Aliens, more vote - buying.  He uses taxpayer money to pay the mortgages of irresponsible people who bought more than could be afforded. He rewards and encourages sloth.  He throws taxpayer money at the auto companies, all down the drain and unaccounted for (Yes, I realize Bush panicked and did the first one, but look at what Obama has done since). Then he takes over Chrysler and GM, takes from their investors who risked their money, and gives to the UAW (hugely Democrat voters), and so those companies are now owned by the UAW and the Government.  Once the role model for the world, a triumph of American Ingenuity and capitalism, the Henry Fords, the people who made GM, the Democrats, by their pandering and support of the UAW albatross, have destroyed the American automobile industry.  Isn't it curious that Toyota and Honda, who manufacture in non-union states, are profitable in the USA.  Wonder why?

More government and taxes is the Liberal answer to every problem. They told you that 95% of Americans would get a tax cut, they did not tell you that in 2005, the 5% most wealthy paid 61% of all taxes.  They did not tell you of Cap and Trade to "Save the world from Globla Warming," and that this will further erode the American economy, making everything more expensive through these taxes and the bow wave of taxing energy.  The claim to be saving the planet with these taxes, but they are really funding their Socialized Medicine.  They ignore what Socialized Medicine has done in places like Canada and England.

No new refineries have been built in the US since 1983, and the Democrats are the party who will not allow drilling for oil, meaning we are dependent on our enemies for oil.  The Democrats can be said in many ways to be the Enemy of the People.  And victimology, and lawyers and pandering.  Why do they go after minorities like Clarance Thomas, Judge Brown, Alito, ... who are Republicans?  Because Democrats consider them a bad example for the minorities they pander to, so the Democrats destroy them.  Trillions of bailout taxpayer money, not accounted for, much of it going to special interests and pork projects for those who vote Democrat, and for the disricts of elected Democrats.  Grossly selfish and un-patriotic liberals, pigs at the trough.

The Mantra of the Democrat party:  "It is easy to spend other peoples' money."  Subtitle:  "If you are not a victim of something, you are out-of-step with Liberal Democrats."
