This Is London has an article saying that Michael Richards (Seinfeld's Kramer) has said anti-Jewish things as well, during his standup act. I believe all the top writers and actors on Seinfeld, other than Richards, were Jewish. We know from the Letterman show on Monday that Jerry is a very good friend of his. It appears to be possible that Richards, while a brilliant comedy actor, is not a gifted comedy writer; that he was just trying to shock, as comedians often attempt to do; and that he's not actually prejudiced against Jewish or Black people.
No way you're giving him a 'pass' just because he is Jewish and also has articulated things that were anti-Jewish!
It wasn't just the dreaded 'N Word', but the other references to lynching etc. that is shameful.
Only confirmed racists entertain such thoughts or language.
This double standard is unacceptable!
Michael Richards has some deep-seated prejudices and perhaps even issues of self-loathing - as does Mel Gibson.
Neither of them should be excused for their egregious bigotry and humiliation of others through their respective stream of consciousness tirades.
Unfortunately, we live in a generation when 'comics' and media personalities are pushing the envelope at other people's expense for shock value.
I'm not advocating PC, but decent behavior.
The only thing these tw miscreants are apologetic for, is being caught.
