Oddly, the Liberals never say boo about things like this:
Pervez Musharraf is facing one of his worst public relations disasters after his government tried to stop a gutsy rape victim from travelling to the US on the grounds that she would tarnish Pakistan`s image. Mukhtaran Mai (in picture) was gang-raped in 2002 on the orders of a village council after her brother—who was 12 at the time—was judged to have offended the honor of a powerful clan by befriending a woman from their tribe. Six men were originally convicted of the crime and sentenced to death, but five were acquitted after appealing to a regional Punjab court.
The Liberals who oppose American efforts to bring democracy to nations such as these, would like to keep this sort of thing from public scrutiny.
Funny, I just heard this story on the Diane Rheams Show. (Liberal NPR) How are we attempting to bring democracy to Pakistan? We support Pervez Musharraf, Bush considers him a major ally in the "War on Terror" although he lead a Military Coupe D'etat that overthrew the democratically elected government that preceded him.
Are Liberals really supressing this information? If so, they are doing a pretty bad job. Considering a simple google search located stories from the (Liberal) San Fransisco Gate, Yahoo News, The(Mega Liberal)Nation, CNN (Ted Turner) and a web site called The Progressive Government Institute.
Good thing we don't let those annoying facts get in the way of our hate!
