From Huda N. in Egypt:
What Mubarak is saying is that he is an army commander who does not leave his battle and does not abandon the sinking ship. He promised he will not re-nominate nor his son. But people in Tahrir square do not believe him.
What I want to tell you is that Egypt will suffer later economically. We are at the end of the month banks are closed. People were not paid, essential food has become more expensive.
Let me tell you how we spend our evenings. We are back in time we live in the prehistoric times. Men and boys go out at night with canes and sticks block the streets to guard women and children at home. They stay all night in front of the buildings to safeguard streets from the thieves (instead of wild animals). They light bonfires to keep warm. In the morning men sleep and women are unable to go out they only stay at home to cook.
Tomorrow they plan for a big riot, mostly organized by Muslim Brotherhood who want to swim with the tide and take the credit. I hope it passes safely
Update 2-4-2011: The existence of the plans for a riot, reported by Huda, is confirmed:
The protesters have declared this to be “Friday of Departure,” the day when Mubarak must step down if massive demonstrations are to be avoided. The demonstrations are scheduled to begin after Friday Muslim prayers and Christian services, at a time when huge numbers of people pour out of mosques and churches into the streets.
