One example is the Committee for Defense of Legitimate Rights (CDLR). This organization is on record as helping bin Laden, and as having publicly called for the murder of Tony Blair.
Are they a secret, hidden organization? They are not. Muhammad al-Massari, the founder of CDLR, is a known, legal resident of London.
A Saudi extremist who helped Osama Bin Laden open a UK office in the mid-Nineties and now claims it is legitimate for Muslims to assassinate the Prime Minister resides in the UK with indefinite leave to remain, a report on Radio Five Live (Sunday 7 March, 11.00am) reveals.
Speaking about whether British troops and the Prime Minister were proper targets according to his interpretation of Islamic law, Dr Mohammed Al Massari – who lives in Wembley, North London – told reporter Navid Akhtar:
...”All British targets are a legitimate target, yes.”
From this side of the ocean, it appears incomprehensible that Britain would permit such snakes to flourish in its midst. It appears inevitable that attacks such as last week’s would occur under such circumstances.
On the plus side, given that London is the location of organizations central to the Jihadist world, can Britain not move to seize their property and arrest their principals? Or, perhaps even better, to wiretap and bug everything they say, providing valuable intel?
Here’s more from Katz’ article:
Several al Qaeda attacks and thwarted attempts worldwide have been directly linked to the jihadist network in Britain. These include the embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania in August 1998; the failed plot by Ahmed Rassam to bomb Los Angeles’s international airport, LAX, at the turn of the millennium; the recruitment of Zacharias Moussaoui and Richard Reid; plots to attack U.S. economic targets, uncovered in August 2004; the 2003 bombings in Casablanca; the 2004 bombings in Madrid’s train system; a suicide attack in Tel Aviv in April 2004; and an attack on Saudi oil refineries in May 2004.
Al Qaeda’s roots in the U.K. can be traced back to 1994, when Osama bin Laden named an Arab student, Khalid al-Fawwaz, as director of the Advice and Reformation Committee (ARC), an organization established purportedly as the media wing of al Qaeda. This office and Fawwaz himself would later be indicted (he is jail in London awaiting extradition) for the embassy bombings in Africa. Fawwaz’s indictment depicts the importance of ARC in assisting terrorist operations…
Our enemies locating key offices in the heart of the great city of a Democracy? You couldn’t make this stuff up. Perhaps it will make the terrorists even more vulnerable to England, than it makes England to them.
