THIS GEM TURNED UP TODAY ON FACES FROM THE FRONT:
Al Jazeera has been kicked out of Iraq indefinitely by the Iraqi government.
Possibly the reporting of Al Jazeera was not considered conducive to the creation of a democracy.
Do you consider Al Jazeera to be an example of freedom of speech? What do you think would happen to a reporter at Al Jazeera who attacked the ruling governments of mid-east dictatorships? Or who attacked the actions of Al Qaeda? You think he'd just lose his job... or would his life be in danger as well?
Al-Jazeera may not be liberal, but they are certainly kin to our own MSM in terms of ourtrageous bias; they are practically a mouthpiece for the Wahhabis. Of course the new government of Iraq kicked them out---with, I hope, US support and prodding. The last thing we want is another Islamic government in the Middle East. The most hopeful sign that this will not happen is that there are two major Islamic movements in Iraq, and each considers the other heretical---Sunni and Shi'ite. Thier squabbling will probably prevent enough consensus to create a lasting Islamic government, although the new Shari'a-based constitution may bode ill for the future.

Interesting that you'd decry an "assault on free speech" two days ago while championing an assault on free speech today.
