There’s been a lot of press wondering why Ben Affleck’s movies haven’t been doing so well lately. The answer, I think, is that he’s been casting himself in comedies. Gigli, Jersey Girl, Surviving Christmas—they’re all comedies. And Ben’s not funny. That’s no knock on him—Meryl Streep did some comedies too, and she wasn’t funny either. Ben’s casting is the dramatic and action-adventure stuff he’s done so well in.
