"We're really blessed in this country to have the Judeo-Christian tradition of wanting to love each other and help each other have better lives and to enjoy life and be good to each other. As opposed to the tradition of some Islamofascist localities where they do the reverse - sending their own children off to be blown up."

Why Al Gore’s Not Going to Run for President

Now that Al Gore has won the Nobel Prize, people are speculating he may run for President.

It's not going to happen, and here's why.

Gore is on a career high. People are throwing awards at him right and left. He's making tons of money. To run for President, he'd have to take a year off from that. He'll never quit what he's currently doing while things are going so well for him.

Not only that, but one of the things causing his current career high, is that he can claim to be in the unique position of someone who was almost elected President, and - so he likes people to think - was indeed elected, and unfairly prevented from taking office. He's greeted on the left as a kind of living martyr.

If he runs - and doesn't get elected - that's finished. That's over. Then he's just another also-ran.

That's why he's not going to run.

On Today’s Pronouncement from Muslim Scholars

Today a group of Muslim scholars has issued a warning to the non-Islamic world: play by our rules or face continued Islamist violence:

Prominent Muslim scholars are warning that the "survival of the world" is at stake if Muslims and Christians do not make peace with each other.

In an unprecedented open letter signed by 138 leading Muslim scholars from every sect of Islam, the Muslims plead with Christian leaders "to come together with us on the common essentials of our two religions."

...The Muslim scholars state: "As Muslims, we say to Christians that we are not against them and that Islam is not against them - so long as they do not wage war against Muslims on account of their religion, oppress them and drive them out of their homes."

From the passage quoted, it appears that the Muslim scholars don't say they are not at war with Jews. It appears to be implied that genocide against Jews is just fine with these Islamic scholars.

The scholars don't say that they will ask their co-religionists to turn away from violence - even though violence in the name of Islam is being committed in nations around the world on a weekly basis.  This shows that these scholars do not seek peace.

The scholars say: "As Muslims, we say to Christians that we are not against them and that Islam is not against them - so long as they do not wage war against Muslims on account of their religion, oppress them and drive them out of their homes." They conditionally aren't at war with us. If we don't do whatever they say we have to, then, these scholars say, they are at war with us. This isn't an invitation of peace. It's a threat of war.

The Muslim scholars demand that Christians not do anything that Muslims might consider oppresses them - including, as we know, having freedom of speech.

The Muslim scholars demand that Christians do not "oppress Muslims" or "drive them out of their homes." But the Muslim scholars don't mind that Muslims routinely oppress Jews and Christians. State-sanctioned genocidal policies are the norm throughout Arab lands, such that, per Wikipedia:

Mass murders of Jews and deaths due to political instability did however occur in North Africa throughout the centuries and especially in Morocco, Libya and Algeria where eventually Jews were forced to live in ghettos. Decrees ordering the destruction of synagogues were enacted in the Middle Ages in Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Yemen. Jews were also forced to convert to Islam or face death in Yemen, Morocco and Baghdad at certain times.

...In 1945, there were between 758,000 and 866,000 Jews (see table below) living in communities throughout the Arab world. Today, there are fewer than 7,000. In some Arab states, such as Libya (which was once around 3% Jewish), the Jewish community no longer exists; in other Arab countries, only a few hundred Jews remain.

Please read that last paragraph carefully: 800,000 Jewish people, driven from their homes, so that less than 7,000 remain in the Arab world today.

Christians in Arab nations have not fared much better. Per the Wikipedia article, "Islam and Anti-Christian persecution:"

Christians under Islamic law would have been under the status of Dhimmi. Dhimmi had more rights than other non-Muslim religious subjects, but fewer legal and social rights than Muslims.

The Muslim scholars are declaring that Islam will continue to make war on non-Muslims, and that if the non-Muslims defend themselves, the "survival of the world" will be at stake.

In fact, it is the Islamist world that is in danger; as a death cult that threatens everyone else on earth, the days of Islamism are numbered.

Obama and the Pin: The Fine Line Between Nuance and B.S.

When we see Obama claiming that he's no longer willing to wear an American flag pin, but that he wants to show his patriotism in other ways, we are seeing nuance that verges on the incoherent:

"The truth is that right after 9/11 I had a pin," Obama said. "Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security.

"I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest," he said in the interview. "Instead, I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testament to my patriotism."

A "substitute" for patriotism? Is he saying his fellow Dems wear a flag pin in lieu of being patriotic - that their patriotism is only pin-deep? What a slam on his fellow Dems that would be!

On the other hand, making a point of taking off the American flag pin is a universally-recognized indication of lack of allegiance to our country. Obama's saying that he opposes America unless it adopts the policies he supports.

At the heart of it is an opposition to Democracy itself; he's saying that the will of the people, as expressed at election time, is wrong unless it elects him, or someone else with views similar to his own.

And in referencing Iraq, he shows that his notion of being patriotic is to call for our troops to leave Iraq before they have accomplished their mission. As I recently posted:

There are those in Iraq who are trying - and, in some cases, succeeding in their efforts - to kill our troops in that country. We win when enough of those enemies (the ones still standing) give up.

Every time someone in the U.S. calls for our troops to leave before we win, it encourages those enemies not to give up. It encourages them to keep trying - and in some cases succeeding in their efforts - to kill our troops.

...Anybody who clamors for our troops to get out of Iraq before we win, is contributing to getting more of our troops killed.

Obama has shown that his leadership is dangerous to our own troops, and that he doesn't believe in Democracy.

New Study Documents Cost of Illegal Aliens: Over $1 BILLION a Year to LA County Alone!

    From radio station KHTS:

LA County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has announced that a new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July.

In the report, illegals are said to have collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million.

"Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,"said Antonovich. "In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion a year -- this does not include the skyrocketing cost of education."

People often imply that illegal aliens aren't hurting anyone when they break our laws. It's useful to remember that the illegal aliens are ripping off a billion dollars a year from the legal residents of LA County alone.
